About Sarah
Sarah Racanière is a visual artist and a doctor based in London.
Sarah read Medicine at Balliol College, University of Oxford and trained at a number of teaching hospitals in the South East of England. She now works as a Consultant Physician with a specialist interest in Diabetes, and is known medically as Dr Sarah Ali.
Whilst always being a creative, Sarah only came to art later in life when working as a doctor and researching the brain reward systems in obesity. What initially started as a pass time interest, has evolved into a journey combining her passion of colour, art, medical science and anatomy.
Sarah has always been fascinated by the intricacies, structure and beauty of the human body. Her knowledge of medicine has allowed her to bring her perspective and interpretation of the structure and function of the organs into art form; creating contemporary medical artwork.
She mainly works in Gouache, Acrylic and brings in Gray's Anatomy or medical investigations into her work.
She has held exhibitions of her work, worked in collaborative art projects and used art to promote health awareness and education. One of her collaborative art pieces is featured in a leading medical journal, Nature Medicine, 'Art in a pandemic: a digital gallery' https://www.nature.com/collections/ibajaahdgh
She is known fondly as #QueenOfColour #ColourQueen
